Welcome to 2013 at St Andrew's
REVEREND CHRIS IVEYWelcome
As Principal, I welcome you to St. Andrew's Anglican College, Peregian Springs - an award winning, leading independent private school near Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. We are a unique community, one that focuses on the importance of relationships to enable each child to reach their personal best. I am continually humbled by the extraordinary achievements and actions of our community and it is for this reason that we bring you to our website, to share with you the 'reality' that is St. Andrew's. ...[read more]
The 2013 St Andrew's Fair - Saturday 25 May!
There are only days to go until The Fair. Thanks to Coolum Beach Dental, our Platinum sponsors for supporting this event. Thanks also to the many businesses who have donated goods and services. We have organised more rides with some of the favourites returning like the Avalanche and the Bungees. Order your wristbands for unlimited rides early by clicking the link here and save. To make a bid on the amazing items in the Silent Auction, just click here. Our parents and friends have been working hard behind the scenes to make sure it is another fantastic day!
After much discussion, following a large demand, the Hot Air Balloon Rides will be run as a raffle. 6 lucky winners will have the chance to choose friends to go for a tethered ride in the balloon, weather permitting. Tickets for this will be on sale all day for $10 and the 6 winners drawn at the Main Stage at 4pm. The basket can hold three adults or two adults and two children, so start thinking about who you would invite with you if you are one of the 6 lucky winners. (If the balloon is unable to fly due to the weather the winners will be given the opportunity to ride at a later date.)
See you at the Fair!

ANZAC DAY SERVICE - Wednesday 24 April
Thank you to the parents and friends who joined us for our Anzac service last Wednesday. In particular it is always lovely to welcome our friends from the Peregian Springs Country Club. We took time to honour and reflect on those who have served for our country. On Anzac Day we also attended the Coolum Dawn Service, the Peregian Springs Country Club Service and the Tewantin Service. Our thanks to the staff and students who attended these services.
The Cancer Council's Relay For Life.
We made it! 18 hours of walking in relay teams around the Sunshine Beach State School Oval for the Relay For Life. With moments for reflection, lots of laughs and fun along the way, we have raised over $13,600 for the Cancer Council to put into research to find a cure and support for those who are battling this terrible disease. Thanks Miss Mackie for making this happen and to all of our amazing staff, students and past students who participated. Thanks also to Jetts Peregian for joining with us to make this such a success.
The tables were turned today at lunchtime when the Secondary students had the chance to make staff run laps of the Richard Gowty Centre! All for a good cause of course, it was Teacher Gauntlet day to raise
funds for the Cancer Council's Relay for Life. This Saturday night, 144 students and staff will in teams, relay around the Sunshine Beach State School Oval over an 18 hour period to raise awareness for this terrible disease. The fundraising is in full swing with students aiming to raise as much as possible. Today students donated money and nominated specific teachers and how many laps they ran! Miss Thomas was certainly popular having to complete over 60 laps!! Please support our bid to raise lots of money by clicking on the link here. This will take you to Miss Mackie's team page. Thanks to all students and staff for their participation and contributions today and to our community in advance for your support. Good luck to all of our relay teams this weekend.
The Teacher Gauntlet! Raising money for the Cancer Council's Relay for Life.
Congratulations to Chelsea Wallis, Class of 2009 who recently graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast and was the recipient of the Chancellors Medal. As the youngest graduate from USC this is certainly a great achievement and testament to her dedication to her studies. We look forward to hearing more about Chelsea and where she heads in the future. To read more about her graduation please click here http://bit.ly/16JlyDz
Safe Travels to our Business Enrichment Trip and Bali Surf Camp students
There was lots of excitement last week as two groups of students set out overseas. The first to leave were students on the Business Enrichment trip to LA and New York and then the Bali Surf Camp students and staff left last Saturday for a two week intensive surf trip to Canggu! Have a fantastic time everyone. We look forward to hearing more about your adventures on your return. If you would like to keep up to date with their travels, visit our facebook page here.

Congratulations
Year 3 and local residents come together to rejuvinate Peregian Beach Park.
Year 3 students not only had a great time but worked with members of the Peregian Community Association and Council Bushland Conservation Management last week, to help plant over 500 native plants in the Peregian Beach dune area. Having suffered recently with our high tides and wild weather, protecting our dunes is a very worthwhile activity!
The students learned a lot about coastal conservation in the process and were amazed with just how bad the erosion has been. Our thanks to Mr Brett Leckie from the Peregian Beach Surf Club for assisting our students. If you would like to join this cause, please contact Brett at the Surf Club.
Grandparents and Special Friends' Day
Please join us this Thursday at 8.45am in The Richard Gowty Centre as we welcome our Grandparents and Special Friends to a special Primary Assembly. The assembly will be followed by morning tea and then time with the students in their classrooms.

2013 Shave for a Cure
Recently our Secondary Students had their turn to raise money for a good cause. Shave for a Cure was quite a riot at assembly with staff and students losing their locks and leg hair! Congratulations to all involved for your enthusiasm. Early count shows that you have raised approximately $2000! Congratulations also to our Primary Students who also raised over $2000 for the Leukaemia Foundation. What a fantastic assembly for a worthwhile cause. More Photos can be found here on our facebook page.
Our Charity Beach Fun Run has now been cancelled. Even though we had to cancel the event that didn't stop us joining together to continue to raise money for both Fire and Flood Relief. With the entries received before the event was cancelled and the funds from the amazing mega raffle, we are pleased to announce that we have raised a total of just over $5000. Thank you to all of the businesses who donated good to the raffle and to all of our supportive community. The raffle has been drawn and all 32 prize winners will be contacted by telephone during the first week of the holidays.

Great news regarding our Secondary Playing Field - To read a letter from the Principal about this project please click here.
The oval in the Secondary school becomes a close reality now that we've received Development Approval from the Sunshine Coast Regional Council. This multi purpose field has been designed in close consultation with Council and reflects the sensitive nature of the adjoining wetlands and consideration of noise to our neighbours. The commencement of construction is scheduled for early March with completion by mid July. During this time we hope to gain some access to the newly developed ridges fields so that sporting activities are not affected. We are sure you will agree from the artists impressions, that this is going to be a fantastic new facility for our campus.
