|Updated Monday 19 August, 2013
With our final rehearsal under way and our costume team finalising their amazing creations, "Guys and Dolls' is shaping up to be one of the most spectacular Primary Musicals St Andrew's has ever produced! The cast and crew are very excited as we begin to count down the days to the performance.
There is quite a lot of information you and your child will require for Production Week. All the information you require is below. As always please feel free to email me if you require clarification on any of the following:
The whole cast will be rehearsing at the J in Noosa on Monday 26, Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 August. Transport will be provided for your child on these days. The buses will be leaving from our top drop off area at 8.15am on all 3 of these mornings. Please ensure your child arrives no later than 8.10am in plenty of time to board our buses. Cast members should make their way straight to the bus not their classroom on these 3 mornings. Mrs Alita Cahill will be taking a roll as your child boards the bus. Mr Andy O Neill will also be accompanying the cast to the theatre. Your child will be back at school for 3pm.
On these three rehearsal days, cast members are required to wear their black 'Guys and Dolls' T-shirt with a pair of dark coloured long jeans and their school runners. Children will require morning tea, lunch and water on all three of these days. These should be packed inside their school excursion bags along with any scripts. Please ensure your child does not bring any electronic equipment or money to the theatre.
We have obtained a list of all medical requirements for each cast member, however, if your child requires an epipen, inhaler or other medication, please contact me so that we can make arrangements for your child.
THERE WILL BE NO AFTER SCHOOL REHEARSALS DURING PRODUCTION WEEK.
Wednesday Dress rehearsal: Please ensure your child brings along any costume items that have not already been left in our costume department for our final dress run on Wednesday 28. This might include school shoes and white school shirts. Children should leave all costume items at the theatre unless they are required to be worn for school the next day.
Costume items required
Mission band: white school shirt, formal school hat, black tights, black school shoes
Dolls: Dressy shoes that are comfortable to move in including sandals, jazz shoes, ballet flats or low heeled shoes
Guys: School shoes or other flat formal shoes, bright socks, belt for trousers
Hot Box Dancers: Silver low heeled shoes, black leggings, black t shirt, black flat shoes
Show nights are Thursday 29, Friday 30 and Saturday 31 August.
Hair and Make Up:
Please see the email previously sent home regarding your child's hair and make-up. All cast members including boys are required to wear make-up. Cast members should arrive at the theatre with hair and make-up already complete.
Cast members should arrive via the stage door (please see the attached map of the J) no later than 5.45pm on show nights. The stage door will be open from 5.15pm if your child wishes to arrive earlier. All cast members should wear their black "Guys and Dolls" T-Shirts with jeans when entering or exiting the theatre. This not only identifies cast members to our security and back stage staff, but also ensures a standard of dress. Any footwear may be worn to evening performances including runners, school shoes, or other flat closed in shoes.
All costume items including school shoes and shirts if required, should be clearly named and brought along each show night.
Parents are not allowed back stage unless prior arrangements have been made (ie. you are helping with hair and make-up on that night). If this is the case you will be given a back stage pass on your arrival. Please ensure you come along on the correct evening you have been asked to help, as for security reasons only those people will be allowed backstage.
Please note: Only children wearing black Guys and Dolls T shirts and adults wearing back stage passes will be allowed back stage at any time. Your child will not be allowed to leave our back stage area until the end of the performance. This includes the interval, so please pack a healthy snack and some water for your child during this time. Please do not send along juice or cordial as we are unable to have these items near our costumes. Lorna Garden, our Fit Foodies expert has kindly put together an information sheet regarding healthy food for our cast members. This has been emailed home to all Musical families. Please also remember we are a nut free school.
You should collect your child from the stage door at the end of our performance. We will not allow any cast members to leave our back stage area without an adult. Please allow time for your child to hang their costumes and collect their belongings after the performance has ended.
Approximate finishing time for our cast members is 9.30pm. This may be slightly later on the Saturday evening due to our thank you's and raffle prize draw.
It is understandable if children are absent from class on Friday 30 August due to their performance commitments.
And finally... Don't forget to buy your tickets!!! Saturday night has almost sold out. Don't miss out! If you have not already bought your tickets, please click on the link below before it is too late!
Thank you so much for your continued support of our Primary Musical. It has been an incredible journey and we are about to see all the hard work put in by our cast members pay off.
Our final whole cast rehearsal will be held this Tuesday 20 August in the RGC 3.15 - 4.45. There will be no Tuesday rehearsal during Production Week.
The students of the Primary School of St Andrew's perform a Musical every 2nd year. In 2011 the students from Years 4 to 6 did an oustanding performance of "Annie get your Gun". Please see below for some photos of the production.
