Primary China visit each Year. Cost approx $2500
St Andrew’s Anglican College has established an exciting friendship school program with Beijing Primary School. 2009 was the inaugural year for this program which provides an exciting and enriching experience for these Year Six ambassadors.
The primary purpose of this program is to provide our Year Six students with an opportunity to extend their Chinese learning within a real-life context and to further develop their knowledge and understanding of the Chinese culture. During the visit the students are involved in an engaging learning program at Beijing Primary School, participating in classroom learning, cultural activities, music and sport. A number of excursions to various sights around Beijing, including the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, the Olympic stadium and the Beijing Zoo are all highlights for the students.
The students and teachers stay in the international student dormitory facilities during the week and with a home stay family on the weekends. Each home stay family selected by Beijing Primary School sends their child to visit St Andrew’s Anglican College later each year. This enables Australian families to return the hospitality and further develop the relationship with their Chinese friends. For more details visit the webpage here
California Music Tour - departing November 2014. Approx cost $5500
Urban Bound Program - depart each year for Year 9 students cost included in Tuition fees
The Urban Bound Program has been designed to broaden the educational and academic experience of Year 9 students. The program has been devised taking into consideration the following principles: Academic, Service/Community, City Adventure, Independence, Environment and Enjoyment. The experience is held off campus in an urban environment that is unfamiliar to the students. Research shows that Year 9 can be a time of adolescent growth where individuals have specific social and learning needs. It is often a period of time where students can become somewhat disengaged with a formalised curriculum and the structure required at school. This program attempts to address these needs by promoting self–directed and collaborative learning, communication, independence and responsibility. This also allows students to investigate how they fit into the world and helps them identify future interests that they may pursue. More information here
New York Business Trip - depart 2014, 2016 cost approx $5500
The content covered during Business Studies at school requires students to investigate and analyse business environments and opportunities on a variety of levels. During our visit to New York students are encouraged to consider the marketplaces and business strategies of many destinations. Particularly, looking at how International Business operates; the challenges of a global approach to business and how enterprise operates not just within our own cities or countries but also in the Worldwide Marketplace. New York, which is known as the business and financial capital of the United States, perhaps even the world, provides a diverse range of developed and renowned business enterprises for students to investigate and experience. Business and innovation on this scale are not available on the Sunshine Coast, or in Australia, so students will be given every opportunity to immerse themselves in Business throughout this trip.
Students will investigate and experience five themes including;
Money, Money, Money! -Uncle Sam’s Hamilton Financial Tour, Wall Street Experience, Educational Visit to the Museum of American Finance, Trump Towers

China Trip - departing 2014, 2016
China is a hugely rewarding experience for those students who choose to travel as part of the Secondary China Experience. Everything about it is different; the people, the language, the food, the culture, the history.
It is an amazing place and we and experience a huge amount from, among others, the more famous attractions like the Great Wall, Terracotta Warriors, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square to the lesser known Hutong areas, Bike ride on the Xian City Wall and Great Mosque.
We travel to the cities of Beijing, Xian and Shanghai with our various modes of transport including rickshaw, Maglev, plane, bus and train each providing a new and unique experience
The food is amazing and plentiful. Obviously the majority is Chinese in style with standouts including the famous Peking Duck and Steamboat. We visit street vendors and food markets sampling different styles at unbelievably inexpensive prices.
The opportunity to interact with local people and test our Chinese speaking abilities at the different venues and attractions makes the trip meaningful especially for those intent of further study of Mandarin Chinese
Our days are long and filled completely with new and intriguing sights and into the night where we are entertained by Kung Fu, a Tang Dynasty experience and the world famous Shanghai acrobats.
We notice the extremes of cities from the historical nature of Beijing to the modern skyline of Shanghai and the night boat trip on the river through the centre of Shanghai is spectacular.
If you are keen on shopping, our market experiences from the 5 level silk markets to the more traditional Xian Market and the vast Shanghai markets leaves no-one wanting and the time allocated just flies by.
Our accommodations are great quality hotels, all centrally located with twin rooms, our meals are all provided in restaurants, all our travel is included as are all entries and night shows. This really is an all-inclusive trip!
This is a trip not to be missed. We have travelled 4 times now since 2008 and the price has ranged between $2600-$2850 (more accurate pricing will be provided closer to the confirmation date). Don’t miss the opportunity to travel to such a unique country and broaden your experiences. This is amazing value for a 10 day experience.
