Yr 8 Loose Lid Boxes

In 2011 we welcome Mr. Michael Bourke, Mr. Andrew Lucas and Mr. Rod Frohmuller to our staff. Along with Mr. Andrew Linthorne and Mr. Rob Kelly they will make up the teaching and support staff of The Technology Faculty. Technology at St Andrew's is at a very exciting stage, with established workshop areas and new facilities coming on line, students can develop their skills and understanding of:-

  • Design
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Computer Graphics and manual drafting
  • Woodwork, plastics and metal work

The programs provide the students with challenging opportunities and a structure that encourages them to grow ideas as their skills improve.

Graphics -
within the Graphics subject area the students of all year levels will be exposed to increasing complexity in the following areas;

  • Foundations Studies - General technical drawing skills.
  • The Built Environment - Architectural studies , basic dwellings, residential, commercial and landscape.
  • Production Graphics - The analysis and development of products.
  • Business Graphics - Graphic Design and it's relationship to business outcomes.

The Program encourages students to look deeper into the world which surrounds them. They can develop an understanding of how and why things are made, why our living spaces work or don't and how graphically tools are used to influence or society. As part of the course the students will increase their knowledge of various software packages, manual drafting and sketching skills.

Technology Studies in the Secondary School

Students in the Middle Years 7-9 are given exposure to a range of tools, tasks and safety information which guides them through the Design Process. As the students develop their skills and understanding they are challenged to increase their personal input into the initially teacher driven tasks. Technology Studies in the Senior School immerses the students in an environment that expects and encourages student to be fully engaged in the development of their projects at all levels. It offers diversity and interest as students work with the skills they have developed in the previous years and apply themselves to Complex Design tasks.

If you would like more information on what we can offer your child, please contact the Head of Technology This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to discuss the programs.
