Year 4 Instrumental Immersion Program

As part of their Year 4 Music studies, students will be involved in the College Instrumental Immersion Program. The Instrumental Immersion Program presents a wonderful opportunity for these students to experience learning a string or band instrument as part of their academic program. Instruments that will be available within the Instrumental Immersion Program include - Alto Saxophone, Baritone Horn, Bass Clarinet, Cello, Double Bass, Euphonium, Flute, Clarinet, French Horn, Oboe, Tenor Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet, Viola, Violin.

Within this program, students will learn to care for an instrument, learn the correct way to hold and play their instrument, understand the importance of time management and organisation with regards to practice, learn to read music, and participate in performances of their work. Students will be taught in both small groups as well as within class ensembles.

Seven instrumental specialist staff will teach within the Instrumental Immersion Program, assisting students with technique, posture, and note reading. The concepts and skills introduced in the Instrumental Immersion Program are closely aligned with the Year 4 Classroom Music studies.

All instruments will be demonstrated to the students during their first music lesson in Week One of Term One, 2013.  A letter will then be sent home on Friday 1 February, 2013, for families to nominate and preference instrument selections for their child.

If you have any questions regarding the Instrumental Immersion Program, please contact the Music Office at
