Leadership
All students in the Secondary School are provided with the opportunity to develop leadership skills over the course of their time in the Secondary School. The skills are taught and encouraged through the House system and in Personal Development lessons.
The more formal leadership positions are generally provided for those students in Years 9 and Years 11, 12.
Middle Years
Year 9 students are invited to apply for the two Middle Years Leaders positions.
Senior Years
All Senior School students are leaders within the life of the College. Some will be formally recognised through the awarding of a position of leadership, others will serve the College in a less obvious (but no less important) manner. Younger students within the College look up to all Senior School students as examples of the best way to conduct themselves. This places the responsibility of leadership within the College on all Senior School students, and consequently all Year 12 students will be entitled to wear a senior badge on their College uniform.
In Year Eleven, Secondary students are invited to nominate for a position of leadership across the College. Student leaders at St. Andrew’s Anglican College are appointed by the Principal in the roles of College Captains, House Prefects or College Prefects.
There will be one male and one female student appointed as College Captain each year, one male and female House Prefect appointed from each House and a number of College Prefects.
Co-Curricular Captains are awarded in various Sporting and Music positions and are open to all Secondary Students.
- Sports – various sports bodies also have Sport Captain positions eg. Rugby, Waterpolo, Netball etc.
- Music – Music ensembles Leadership positions are available to secondary students - Choral Leader, Bands Leader and Strings Leader.
- Leadership opportunities are not restricted to these listed and all students are encouraged to learn from these available experiences
