Netball 2012
Our 20 Netball teams are off and running in both the Coolum competition and also the Sunshine Coast Secondary Schools competition. It is wonderful to see so many students involved in Netball. Thanks to the many players and their families for their commitment and dedication to the College. All the photos from Netball are available here. St Andrew's Tennis
The St Andrew's tennis academy has evolved in 2012 with more matchplay, more squads and more opportunities. It is great to see so many students playing Tennis and this year we have 270 enrolled in the academy and more students playing in the designated sport afternoons. Brisbane Lions host leadership seminar

It has been a a busy week with some wonderful guests to the College. On Wednesday we were privileged to have Jordan Mercer present our Swimming awards. She is a fantastic young lady who is achieving brilliant things this season in Nutri grain Surf series. The Brisbane Lions also dropped by to develop leadership styles in our Year 7 and 8 students. The St Andrew's Anglican College spirit was on full display at an amazing afternoon supporting ovarian, breast and prostate cancer research. Over 1000 runners completed the 5km beach run to support our community. Thank you to all involved. All the photos are available here


 

Seecondary Swim carnival

Congratulations to all swimmers for a wonderful Secondary Swim carnival. Rafter house retained the House 'duck' for incredible house spirit and Hocknull won the overall event. A huge thanks to all involved. The participation statistic from the day was huge and is reflective of what it means to be a St Andrew's student. It is credit to the wonderful hosue spirit and a willingness to get involved that is so impressive. Congratulations to all new record holders as well selected team members. Run Club has amazing turnout
All students in Year 3-12 are invited to attend Run club each Tuesday morning. There will be age appropriate courses and age appropriate training led by supercoach Nick Croft. All runners are asked to be there by 7.15am. It will conclude at 8am and there will be breakfast available to purchase from the Snaac Shack. This is a great way to get fit for Rugby, Netball, Basketball and Volleyball season. It is also a great way to prepare fully for the upcoming Cross Country season. St. Andrew's has enjoyed wonderful success and I am sure 2012 this will continue.I look forward to seeing many students attend each Tuesday. Brother and sister make Australian team
Congratulations to Louise Evans who competed at the recent Australian Youth Sailing Championships in the women's Radial Class. Louise achieved the Overall regatta win and a prestigous Australian Youth Sailing Team spot. Evans sailed extremely consistently throughout the entire regatta and earned her chance to  to represent Australia in Japan in March and at the ISAAF Youth Worlds in July in Irelandsail at the ISAF Youth Worlds in Ireland. Congratulations Louise. Kye then sailed in the Australian Optimist Nationals at RQYS last week.  In a fleet of 118 boats Kye finished 5th Australian on the last day of racing.  The top 5 boats at the Nationals secure a position in the Australian Optimist Worlds Team.  The Opti Worlds are in the Dominican Republic in July.

Brodie again National Champ
Brdie picked up gold in the 13 years Boys 1500m and silver in the 800m to cap off a great year which he picked up three individual national gold medals and three individual national silver medals across track and cross country. His coach Brian Chapman commented - I've got a saying that training can beat ability, ability can beat training but there's nothing that can beat ability and training. He's got both' Congratulations Brodie.


Basketball 2012
The plans are already underway for a HUGE year of St Andrew's Basketball. Following the success of 2011 we are really excited about 2012. There are two seasons in 2012. In Terms 1 and 2 we will be entering teams in Noosa Basketball competition at U14, U16 and U18 age groups. In Terms 3 and 4 we will be competing in the Sunshine Coast Schools Basketball. Australian Water Polo
Congratulations to Tiana Sogaard Andersen who represented Australia in Water Polo during the holidays. She played for the Australian U17 Schoolgirls Team in December in the annual 3 test series against New Zealand. This year the games were held in Sydney. 

We wish Tiana all the best when she plays for Qld in the U20 National Championships 17-22 January in Adelaide.. This is a great achievement for Tiana as she has another 3 years in U20s. Good luck T!!

Remy creates History
Congratulations to St. Andrew's student Remy Fairweather who has created Australian swimming history when she broke one of the longest standing age-group AUSTRALIAN records being held by Hayley Lewis for 22 years !!! The record is now Remy's. The event was 14 years Girls 400m Freestyle in a time of 4:10.55, this also got her a bronze medal in the OPEN State 400m FINAL. She is now the fastest 13 yr old and 14 year old ever in Australian swimming history in this event. On behalf of everyone at St. Andrew's - congratulations Remy - We are very proud of you. Water Polo - Queensland teams announced

Congratulations to six St. Andrew's students who have been selected in the Queensland U14 Water Polo squads announced today. They are Nic Porter, Dylan Coolican, Juliano Cerasani, Cameron Boldy, Fraser Hopkins and Jacqui Sjogren. a wonderful achievement and thoroughly well deserved after performing brilliantly at the Queensland Water Polo Championships.

Swimming carnival
Congratulations to our Year 3-6 swimmers on a wonderful carnival. The spirit, enthusiasm and talent was fantastic. A special congratulations to Max Osborn who broke three College swimming records in the 11 years Boys age group. A huge thanks to the students, staff and families for their great support. Netball 2012
Our Netball preparations are well under way for 2012 and an exciting development is our Secondary program moving into the Sunshine Coast Secondary Schools Netball competition in Maroochydore each Monday evening in Term 1 and 2. Year 3-6 will compete each Thursday evening at Coolum Netball. All the information for 2012 is available here

Queensland Primary Schools Relay Swimming
Our Primary swim team was again outstanding when they competed in the Queensland Primary Schools Relay Carnival in Brisbane with 46 other schools. It was an U10 and U12 carnival with Freestyle and Medley Relays. All our teams had top 15 finishes with plenty of finals made. Our U12 girls were terrific finishing 4th in the Freestyle and getting Bronze in the Medley Relay. Thanks to families for their support.

Sports Celebration 2011

Congratulations to all students on a wonderful year and congratulations to our award winners for 2011. The number of students participating in co-curricular sport in 2011 has again been huge. It is great to see so many students recognised for their achievements, participation and spirit. A huge thank you to swimming superstar Emily Seebohm for presenting this year. She was outstanding. Water Polo 2011
Congratulations to our three Water Polo teams who competed in the finals at Kawana on Monday evening. Following on from the success of Basketball, St. Andrew's has been announced as the Runner up Champion Water Polo school behind Matthew Flinders. With 15 schools in the competition and over 70 teams playing this is a great achievement for our Water Polo community. Congratulations to all coaches and players and especially. A huge thank you to Cameron Piper for his incredible passion, knowledge and energy in driving Water Polo so successfully at St. Andrew's. It is a very popular sport and that is largely due to Cameron and the coaches who make it so enjoyable.
Congratulations Brodie
Brodie competed at the recent State Athletics Championships in both the 800m and 1500m. He broke the Queensland record in the 800m yet amazingly finished 2nd in both events. He is however off to the National Athletics Championships later in the year and on behalf of everyone at St. Andrew's, we wish him well.

Spirit at the Prep-3 X-Country
Our Prep – 3 students were simply fantastic! Thank you to all parents and families for their superb support of all our students. Thank you to Boost Juice and The Fit Foodies. Thank you to our special guest starters kindly organised by USM events. Collis Birmingham - Olympian and  Winner last year and 2009 of the Noosa Bolt. Former Aus 10k record holder. 6th 2010 Commonwealth Games 5000m. Australian 5000m Champion in 2009. Ben St. Lawrence- Winner of the Sydney City to Surf 2010 and current Aus 5k record holder. 2010 Commonwealth Games 5000m 7th and 6th 10,000m. Australian 5000m Champion 2010, 2011.  More photos here

A successful Noosa Kids Tri
It waa wonderful to see over 60 St. Andrew's students compete in the noosa Kids Tri on Saturday 29th. The value of Triathlon is hugely underrated as a great fit, active and healthy sport. One of the highlights was Hawaii Ironman Champion and Noosa Triathlon Champ - Chris McCormack chatting to the students. Well done to all on a great achievement.

St. Andrew's is truly unique
Over 650 students made their contribution to their community in a special way on Friday 28th Oct. They competed in the Noosa 5km Fun Run and in doing so raised over $12,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, This is the ninth year we have been involved in this event and it is always a fanastic way to show our support. We were once again the largest participative school and our College Captains promptly donated back the prize money to charity More photos here

An amazing honour for St. Andrew's basketball
St. Andrew's have been crowned Champion Basketball School in just our first season of competition in the schools competition. The 13A Girls team and the 15A Girls team were Premiers and the 13A Boys team finished runners up This recognition is a fantastic achievement and reflective of the amazing contribution of our entire Basketball community - read more about the amazing season here.

Basketball Finals

Congratulations to the 15 years Girls Basketball team who are Sunshine Coast Schools Basketball Champions after defeating Matthew Flinders 57-38 in the Final. This team has had a phenomenal year and have played 23 matches and won 23 matches – amazing! Thanks and congratulations to Sally Powell for coaching the team in the Schools competition. On Friday 21st- the 13 years Girls play their Final against Sunshine Coast Grammar at Caloundra at 4pm and the 13 years Boys play St Johns at 5pm Best wishes to all players and coaching staff on your matches this week. click here to visit the Secondary Schools Basketball website for all details. Sensational Sydney Tennis Tour
It was a wonderful inaugural tour to Sydney for our Tennis teams. We played against two strong Sydney GPS schools, St. Joseph's College in Hunters Hill and also Scots College. Both fixtures were extremely competive and honours were shared. The training session at the Sydney Olympic Tennis centre was great as was the visit to ANZ stadium. Congratulations to all tour members and this tour will certainly become a yearly opportunity on the SAAC tennis calendar - More images of the tour here

Forms are available from the sports office. Last year it was a fantastic sight to see over 550 students competing in the 5km Fun Run and I am sure this year we can beat the 600 participant mark. It is a wonderful community event and what better way to raise thousands of dollars for a wonderful charity. This event will fall in our 'St. Andrew's Festival of Fitness' week and more information will be available shortly regarding this.

The St. Andrew's Triathlon Club officially launched
and we were very fortunate to welcome Craig Walton ( 6 Time Noosa Champion and Olympic triathlete).
Over 50 students ltook part in the inaugural Triathlon training session to lauunch the St. Andrew's Triathlon Club. A special thank you to Craig Walton who joined the launch and spoke to all Secondary students. Triathlon training take splace each Wednesday at the College from 7.15am to 8.15am

Milo in2Cricket
We are once again offering the Milo in2Cricket program in Term 4. This is open to all boys and girls in Prep to Year 4. It will be held at the College on Friday afternoons.

Water Polo in Term 4
The 10 St. Andrew's Water Polo teams have resumed competition in Term 4 after starting the season strongly in Term 3. Water Polo and Basketball have been amazing growth sports at the College this year and it is exciting to see so many St. Andrew's students taking up the challenges. Best wishes to the Water Polo teams in their matches.

St Andrew's Students Meet Anna Bligh
USM Events invited St Andrew's students along to meet Anna Bligh as she announced additional funding for the Noosa and Mooloolaba Triathlons. Our students had a mini training session to show off their triathlon skills to the Premier. Thank you Mrs Crowther for arranging this event! Regional Track and Field
There were 14 St. Andrew's students competing at the Sunshine Coast Track and Field Championships. Congratulations to all our students, many of whom achieved "personal bests" during the competition. Congratulations to Brittany Cashman, Cecilia Luhrs and Brodie Modini who have all been selected to compete at the upcoming Queensland Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships.

Remy Fairweather Australian Commonwealth Youth Games Team
- COMMONWEALTH CHAMPION - 3 GOLD MEDALS
Congratulations to Remy - GOLD medal in the 400m and 800m Freestyle as well as the 4 x 200m Relay at the Commonweath Youth Games currently being held at the Isle of Man. We are so proud of you! Click here for a great article from the Sunshine Coast Daily. We congratulate Remy for her selection in the 2011 Australian Commonwealth Games Youth Team. She competed From the 7th-12th September  in the Isle of Man (UK), as part of an 87 strong team across 7 sports, against 69 other countries.  We are so proud of her achievements and greatly appreciate her willingness to be a part of our "poster signing" ceremony. National Cross Country Success

Congratulations to Gus Luhrs, Cecilia Luhrs, Chester Rees and Brodie Modini who have just returned from the National titles in Canberra. As usual, they were great ambassadors for our College. Exceptional performances from Gus Luhrs – 12th in the nation & Brodie Modini – 2nd in the nation. OUTSTANDING!

AFL GIRLS

Our superstar AFL girls participated in a Girl's Exhibition Match on Breaker's Day here in Coolum.  They were awesome and had a great time.  The Blue Team were the Allstars, coached by Conny Bibby and the Red Team were the Breakers who were lucky to be coached by the very knowledgable and technical, Amy Nieuwenhuis.

The winners? I hear you ask, well the winners of the day were good friendship, happy smiles and AFL!

A big thank you to Luke Rowlands for helping to get the girls organised for the day!



Board Riders Club
We are again pleased to be able to outline the arrangements for the St. Andrew’s Anglican College Board riders club, which will take place each Saturday morning for six weeks at Coolum Beach starting on Saturday 8th October (Week 1, Term 4). The sessions are once again being conducted by Surfing Queensland, under the guidance of Chris Kendall and his expert instructors from the Coolum Surfing School.

Tennis Update
Congratulations to all our Tennis academy players who continue to do great things. Our Preps through to our Year 12's have been outstanding. The number of players participating has been wonderful and I have really enjoyed joining in the drills with some of the more advanced players and it has been great to see the enthusiasm and dediaction. SupeRugby and World Cup Visit
On Thursday afternoon, the Year 4 - 6 students had a visit from the SupeRugby and World Cup. The students had a chance to get up close and learn a little about both of these prestigous trophies.

Our Under 9 Rugby boys even made a special appearance on the Channel 7 News!

The Year 4-7 Athletics team are Champions again.

They won the Independent Schools Athletics Championships for the 4th year in a row beating nine other Independent Schools. Sunshine Coast Grammar School were 2nd and Matthew Flinders were 3rd. It was an outstanding team performance with many individual achievements. Regional Cross Country
St. Andrew's has an incredible four Regional Champions Emma Wilkinson (10G), Gus Luhrs (11B), Brodie Modini (13B) and Cecilia Luhrs (14G). All four runners won their Regional title recently. The 13 years Boys, 14 years Girls are Regional Age group Champions and the 15 years Girls picked up a bronze. Eight students now go on to represent the Sunshine Coast Region at the Qld Cross Country Titles in Ipswich and Roma, well done to all runners on a great season! more photos here

Well Done Volleyballers
Well done to our Boys Volleyballers who have been competing each Friday night at Caloundra in the Sunshine Coast Schools Volleyball Competition. This has been our first season and it has been a great success. We will certainly be building Volleyball at the College over the next few years. The competition takes place each year in Term 2. Thanks to Mr Elley and Mr Kelly for their hard work with the team. More photos are availbale for download here


Congratulations swimmers and runners
Well done to all students and families who took part in the Noosa Blue Water Swim on Saturday 21st May. It was a terrific event in beautiful conditions. There were many who competed in the 2km swim, the 1km swim and 500m Nipper dash. Congratulations to all involved. 

Congratulations to al the runners who took part on Sunday in the Half marathon, the 10km and the 5km Fun run. It was a beautiful day for running and great to see so many of the St. Andrew's community involved. Thank you all to the Netball girls, staff and mums who ran a water station from 5am - 11am for over 2000 runners. There are photos here which are available for download

Water Polo preparations begin
The 2011 Sunshine Coast Secondary Schools Water Polo Competition is starting in Term 3. Again this year St Andrew’s is hoping to enter as many teams as possible into the competition with students from Year 7 to 12. Training sessions will be held on Tuesday evenings from 5pm - 6:15pm at Noosa Aquatic Centre starting Tuesday 24 May 2011. All players are expected to attend. There will also be additional training during student’s allocated Sport time – Monday periods 5 and 6 for Seniors and Friday periods 5 and 6 for grades 7-9. More information here

Basketball - Raise your Game
Congratulations to all St. Andrew's teams this semester who did do well with many teams making the finals and indeed winning. Some exciting news is coming about Basketball in term 3 at St. Andrew's with opportunities for U12 - Open age groups. Basketball has been the biggest growth sport this year and is set to become even bigger..... more photos of basketball season 1 are here


Secondary Athletics season is here
Congratulations to all Primary students who enjoyed a wonderful Primary Carnival on Weds 18th May and the went on to win the The Independent District Carnival for the 4th year in a row on Thursday 2nd June. Amazing team performances at Queensland Championships
Congratulations to over 40 St. Andrew's runners who competed in the Queensland All Schools Championships in Brisbane on Saturday 7th May. There were some outstanding individual performances with all each race having on average 100 runners. Over 150 schools were represented. St. Andrew's won team Gold in the 9 years girls. Team Silver in the 10 years girls, 11 years girls, 11 years boys and team Bronze in the 12 years boys. Outstanding Cross Country Carnival - Champions again

Congratulations to the Primary team who are SCISSA Cross Country Champions 2011 with Matthew Flinders in 2nd place and Suncoast Christian College in 3rd and Sunshine Coast Grammar in 4th. Incredibly we have now won this event 6 times since the event began 9 years ago in 2003. We have won in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009. 2010. 2011.


Secondary - we finished 3rd overall in a close battle for 1st, 2nd and 3rd . Matthew Finders were first with Grammar in 2nd (we were just 6 points behind). Congratulations to our Girls Team who won the overall aggregate trophy.

A great moment for Lachlan Caruana
Lachlan has a very special family, it is the Collingwood Football club family and his great grandfather is a legend at Collingwood Football Club. Many at St. Andrews will know the name Robert Rose as being the Collingwood legend and the Robert Rose Cup is played between Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs each year. Last saturday Lachlan was the Collingwood team mascot who led the team through the banner that bore the name of his Great Grandfather. What a thrill and what a family.

Tiana picked in National Water polo squad

Tiana has just finished competing in the U18 Nationals and although her team came 6th  Tiana was selected into the National Youth Squad (born 94 or younger) This squad is a group of girls that could potentially represent australia at the 2012 Youth World Champs... but obviously the squad members change along the way based on performance at various comps. She's currently on the gold coast with them at a training camp.  Tiana is amongst the younger players in this group as she born 95, however its great that shes been given the opportunity.

An exhilarating Cross Country Carnival
Wind, rain and mud did not dampen the amazing spirit of the St. Andrew''s Secondary students at the House Cross Country Carnival. Well done to all runners and congratulations to Hocknull House on their overall win and to Rafter House on the 'Duck trophy' win. More images are available here

George Gregan drops in at SAAC
Former Wallaby Captain and the most capped Australian Rugby player ever, George Gregan, popped into the College and joined in the fun with our U9 Rugby teams. He was wonderful with the boys and we were humbled to have such a great Australian Sportsman have a great impact on our young Rugby players. Thank you George More photos here


Swimming superstars
Congratulations to Yr 9 student Remy Fairweather who finished 6th in the Women's 800m Final at the Australian Swimming Championships in Sydney. This was an incredible achievement for her at such a young age. The next 12 months will see Remy working hard for the Olympic trials for 2012. She also finished 9th in Australia in the womens 400m Freestyle. Congratulations to Max Osborn and Sarah Johnson who have been selected for Queensland at the upcoming Australian Primary Schools Swimming Championships in Melbourne. Well done to Jake Packard (50m, 100m and 200m Breaststroke) and Tom Williams (800m and 1500m) and Nick Parchert (200m Butterlfy) all Queensland Champions. Congratulations to Kyle Finney who won a silver in the 50m Breaststroke.

U12 Armidale Rugby Carnival
It was a fantastic weekend of Rugby at the prestigous Armidale Rugby Carnival in New South Wales. The boys played 5 games, winning 3 and losing 2 and enjoyed some wonderful matches against St. Ignatius College, St. Augustine's and St. Aloysius all from Sydney. The boys were outstanding ambassadors from the College and thanks to Mr Col Anderton, Mr Troy Cavell and the many parents who were outstanding in their contributions to Rugby at St. Andrew's. More photos available here

Rugby with the stars
Congratulations to the mighty St. Andrew's U8 team who go to play on the Suncorp Stadium hallowed turf on Saturday 26th March. It was the opportunity of a lifetime for the boys and something they will never forget. Thank you to the families who came along to support. Cross Country Fun
It was a terrific St. Andrew's twilight Cross Country carnival on Tues 22nd from 3.30pm - 5.30pm. The conditions were hot and humid but there were some fantastic performances all round. Thank you to the students for your incredible efforts and to the hundreds of supporters who came along to support a successful event after school. Thank you also to Boost Juice and the Fit Foodies for all their help and support in refuelling the students. Year 1-3 Swim Carnival
It was a wonderful morning of celebration on Wednesday 23rd March as our Yer 1-3 students took part in their swim carnival. They have been working hard all term in their swimming program and Wednesday was a culmination of this. The standard of swimming keeps reaching new heights and my congratulations to all children. We were delighted to welcome Layne Beachley to the College on Monday 14th. She is an inspiration and her successes are incredible. She spoke of some amazing events and provided incredible advice and messages and we are delighted to to be able to support her foundation 'Aim for the Stars'. The week of Surfing kicked off on Thursday with a Girls only surf group which attracted 30 girls at Noosa. Our Saturday Surfing program is thriving. Vicki Wilson Netball Clinic
We were delighted to welcome back our friend and World Netball superstar Vicki Wilson together with Patti farrell. This was an incredible opportunity to learn from the very best and was available to all students turning 8-15. Vicki was again outstanding in the knowledge she passed on and we are very grateful to her and Patti for their input towards the SAAC Netball girls. St. Andrew's swimmers are the best on the Sunshine Coast
Congratulations to Sarah Johnson and Max Osborn who were recognised as the Sunshine Coast swimming Age champions at the recent Sunshine Coast Regional swimming carnival. Max (11 years boys) was outstanding all day and his pet events, the 50m and 100m Butterfly were particulary strong. Sarah (12 years girls) had a busy day and was particularly dominant in the 100m Free. Sarah was also recognised as Open Age Champion on the day. Both swimmers along with Zoe Dick, Sophie Johson, Alessia Cerasani and Shailee Finney will compete at the Queensland Swimming Championships.

Rugby season kicks off
Our Secondary Rugby teams have begun their preparations for the upcoming 2011 season. The U13, U14 and Open teams had a great pre season friendly against Matthew Flinders AC and we came away with plenty of positives for 2011. The 1st XV enjoyed their first game together and all the signs are good for a successful year of Secondary Rugby. Thanks you to our Rugby families and the many students and staff who came along to support the boys. Brodie picks up State Award
Brodie Modini attended the 'Queensland Future State Greats' award ceremony in Brisbane along with 24 other students from all over Queensland. He was there to receive his future State Great award and was presented with his certificate and cheque by former Cricket great Ian Healy and also Wally Lewis. He was the Sunshine Coast winner as in 2010 he represented Queensland in Rugby Union, Touch, Athletics and Cross Country and is the current 800m Australian Champion.

Netball off to a wonderful start
Congratulations to all our 13 Netball teams in 2011 who have made a wodnerful start to their competition. It is thrilling to see over 100 St. Andrew's girls at Coolum each Thursday participate so enthusiastically and with great skill. Congratulations to the Primary Swim team - Independent Schools Champions for the 3rd year
Our 9 years to 12 years swim team were outstanding at the Sunshine Coast Primary Schools Swimming Championships on Tuesday 22nd Feb. The team were defending their title they won in 2010 and 2009 and were again successful in 2011. Well done to the whole team. It is not about the 30 seconds but the months of preparation. Swimming success
Congratulations to the Secondary Swim team on an outstanding performance today against the ten other Independent Schools. We finished in 3rd and won the percentage trophy (for best performing school based on enrolments). There were many wonderful performances with Remy Fairweather and Charlie Thompson and Nick Parchert awarded age champions in the 13 yrs boys, 14 yrs girls and Open Boys respectively. Seven Sunrise
St. Andrew's joined in the fun at Noosa Main beach on Wednesday 16th February at 5am, where Seven Sunrise and TV weatherman, Grant Denyer were filming. It was a great morning and we enjoiyed a healthy start to the day with a run on the beach and a healthy breakfast. Thank you to all families who made it down to the beach View all the images here

Swim success - Queensland Runners up
The Secondary Swim team competed at the Queensland Anglican Schools Swim Carnival at the Southport School on the Gold Coast and finished runners up out of all competing schools. This is a terrific achievement as we are the youngest Anglican School. The team now moves to the Sunshine Coast Independent Carnival on Monday 21st where there will no doubt be some great performances - click here for photos

Massive turn out for Flood relief

Thank you to over 1000 runners who attended the inaugural Charity Fun Run on Friday. It was a spectacular event and an amazing example of the incredible St. Andrew's community spirit. The final amount raised will be announced this week, but thank you to all the SAAC community who got involved and showed great support for the victims of the recent Queensland Floods. View all the photos here

There has been an overwhelming resposne to St. Andrew's Rugby in 2011 and we are delighted to be able to field 15 Rugby teams in the Saturday competition and also the Sunshine Coast Secondary Schools Competition.

an amazing St. Andrew's Secondary Swim Swim Carnival! Congratulations students on a wonderful event with amazing house spirit and terrific swimming. Well done to Burkett house who won the overall trophy and to Rafter house who won the House Duck for best House spirit. A huge thank you to swimmers, staff and the many parents who came along tp support. A special mention to the Fit Foodies who put on a wonderful array of health, fit food. Tennis Sign on

Sign on day for tennis at SAAC. We are delighted that the academy now caters for over 200 students in private coaching and group coaching. Our matchplay evening on Monday and Friday are also looking to be a huge hit and once again every Prep - Year 3 student will attend a 5 week tennis coaching clinic throughout the year. Basketball 2011
Welcome to the 2011 first season (Feb – June). The College currently fields teams in the Noosa District Basketball Association competition. We enter teams in U/14 boys and girls (born 1998/99/00), U/16 boys and girls (born 1996/97) and U/18 boys and girls (born 1994/5). Games have commenced and take place each Friday night and Saturday morning. All players are expected to attend training each Thursday afternoon in the sports hall 3.15pm - 4.30pm. Remy Fairweather creates history at State swimming Championships
2010
Remy has already won 3 GOLD State medals , but the bigger news is on Monday 13th Dec, she created a bit of swimming history and broke The AUSTRALIAN RECORD 13yrs 400m FREE, so she has become the fastest 13yrs ever in swimming Australia history to swim in a time of 4.14 and has now surpassed swimming greats such as Hayley Lewis and Tracey Wickham at the same age. She was presented an award with her coach in a ceremony for her achievements and also  "swimmer of the session". Her time also broke four records in total ( two Aust and two Qld long course records ). Congratulations Remy.

Congratulations Brodie Modini - Australian Champion
Brodie has topped off a great year by becoming the 12 yrs Boys Australian 800m Champion. He won in a time of 2.06 and was just 0.4s outside of the Australian record. Brodie has also been recognised as a star of the future and is being acknowledged as a 'Future State Great'. He will attend a ceremony in Brisbane where he will be presented a bursary cheque. It has been an outstanding year for Brodie representing Queensland in 4 sports, Athletics, Cross Country, Touch and Rugby Union as well as being St. Andrew's sportsman of the year.
A huge thank you for your wonderful support at the Noosa 5km Fun Run this morning. There were over 550 students and many more family members. We raised thousands of dollars and had a great morning of healthy activity. It was incredible to see students from Prep to Year 12 running alongside many staff and families.
The College was awarded a cheque for $500, for the largest participative school at the event. The aim of the morning was the fantastic contribution to a great charity and enjoy the morning. Therefore we promptly donated all this money back to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
St. Andrew’s is an incredibly unique place in so many ways. Thank you for your incredible support and enthusiasm with all our Sports events.


Year 3-6 Swim Carnival
Congratulations to all 9 yrs - 12 yrs students on a wonderful swim carnival for 2010. Duel in the Pool
St. Andrews students headed to Matthew Flinders Anglican College on Tuesday 30th November for one last event of 2010 as they went head to head in the 'Duel in the Pool'. Over 90 St. Andrew's swimmers represented the College and it was a great afternoon of relay swimming. Congratulations to Matthew Flinders on winning the inaugural events and a huge congratulations to all our mighty SAAC swimmers


Nearly at the end of 2010

It is amazing to think we are nearly at the end of anither great year at St. Andrew's. There has been so much success, individual achievement, team achievement, participation, fun and highlights. We have challenged ourselves, we have made the most of opportunities. Above all we have had fun and shown great pride in wearing the St. Andrew's diamond. Kayla selected as Ambassador
Congratulations to Kayla Kolb who has been given the prestigious honour of being the awarded by the Board of Equestrian Queensland the title of Ambassador for the Sport of Eventing. Kayla will attend the Queensland Equestrian Awards evening in Brisbane on the 27th November. Recognition such as this is wonderful for Kayla and is a compliment to her character and dedication to her sport


Surf stars visit St. Andrew's
We were delighted to welcome Surf Lifesaving stars Rebecca Creedy and Josh Minogue to the college. Josh recently finished 3rd in the gruelling Coolangatta Gold and Rebecca won a Commonwealth Games swimming Gold medal at just 15 years of age. They were outstanding ambassadors for the sport and spoke of the importance of balancing work commitments, sport commitments as well taking the time to relax and enjoy life. They are both competing in the upcoming Nutri grain Ironman series.

Tom a champ in any water
Tom Williams in Year 10 recently won his category at the Noosa Eyeline 1000 swim as part of the Noosa Multi sport festival. His category win also placed him 10th overall out of a field of 700 swimmers. This comes after he recently won the Australian 1500m 14 years championships. This is a wonderful result and we wish Tom well in the upcoming Queensland Championships next month.


St. Andrew's Tennis Festival of Matchplay - Sun Nov 14th Congratulations to all players who entered the event. It was great to see nearly 50 students compete at various levels. It has been a great year of tennis at St. Andrew's as our academy continues to thrive. The standard of tennis at St. Andrew's is wonderful. Keep playing and enjoying the game.

Sports awards
It was a wonderful morning on Monday 1st as welcomed new Australia Davis Cup Captain and two time US Open winner Pat Rafter to our Sports awards. When on tour he was one of the most well respected and well liked players and it is easy to see why. He spoke of the the importance of goal setting and how despite the Davis Cupwas big, he was looking forward to being around St. Andrew's to assist with Tennis and Rugby. Water Polo Champions
Congratulations to our Junior Boys and Junior Girls teams who both won their finals on Monday night in the Sunshine Coast Water Polo finals. Our Intermediate girls played brilliantly and narrowly missed out and our Senior Girls team also finished runners up. Congratulations to all 4 teams on making it to the final. St. Andrew's Water Polo is certainly gaining momentum and will be back bigger and stronger in 2011. Thank you to all players coaches and parents on a wonderful season.


Over 80 St. Andrew's students compete at the Noosa Kids Triathlon
The fit, active and healthy culture was further reinforced when over 80 students competed in the Noosa Kids Triathlon on Saturday 30th. It was a fantastic event with plenty of sports stars and smiling faces. Congratulations to all.

Health and Fitness week update
It has been a wonderful week. We kick started the week on Monday with the BIGGEST Fruit salad and it came in at a whopping 200kgs. Thanks to the Fit Foodies who then served all the students and staff with fruit. This also launched our 'Fresh Fruit time...anytime' initiative which encourages all students and staff to eat fresh fruit regularly throughout the day.

Pink Day
Pink day was a terrific success and the whole College turned Pink for the day. The sense of community is terrific as we made a significant contribution to the Cindy MacKenzie Breast Cancer Foundation through the funds from the breakfast and other donations. Well done to all students who make such a difference.



The Prep - 3 Cross Country Carnival was wonderful
A huge thank you for a lovely morning of running. The students constantly exceed expectations!! Thanks again to the Fit Foodies who refuel our students and also to Boost juice for their great support. Our goal is very much to create a fit, active and healthy environment and the Prep - 3 event certainly achieves that. It was wonderful to see so many families attend a great morning and my thanks for your support.

Meeting a Delhi star
As part of our 'Sport for Life' program we were delighted that Commonwealth games Silver medallist Julie Keegan, could share her medal she attained in Delhi, with the students and also chat to them about lawn bowls and being an elite athlete. Thank you to Julie and also to Coolum Bowls club for this wonderful opportunity
