WEEK 9 (Updated 15/9/2013)
Our last week of Term Three ends on a high note with everyone ready for another holiday after another positive and productive term. It is always interesting in term 3 because your expectations are different in that you are wanting your students to take more responsibility for their learning as well as going to a higher level of thinking. I’m pleased to report that this is exactly what has happened. Our approach to our work has certainly changed with students actively thinking about their learning. Both our Maths and writing skills are really pleasing.
In a few weeks I will be thinking about reports, awards and new classes for 2014. It is hard to think 2013 has gone so quickly?
Have a great holiday and I look forward to our last term together.
No more formal uniform after this term (only special occasions)
Swimming begins in week 1 on Wednesday’s at12.10pm. Please check clothing requirements.
WEEK 7 : (updated 25/8/2013)
No homework this week due to the Musical and the number of students involved in it. The time however, can be well utilised by working on our culmination day presentation project which is next Monday (week 8). This week in the classroom will enable some students to work on their project. Please support your child as it may be necessary for them to complete their project at home. Time has got away from us and with the busy ness of this term it has been impossible to get started. The term has been a huge learning curve and I’m delighted with the progress from everyone.
Our writing skills are one area where success has been outstanding. We’ve gone from simple sentences to descriptive, interesting story lines. The efforts have been pleasing indeed and persistence to get there has been an indication of every ones commitment.
A big thank you for making costumes for Book Week. Our classroom was quite a buzz on Friday morning with everybody checking out each other costumes. A lot of fun was had by everybody and it was the end of another hectic week at St. Andrew’s.
Hope to see you at our culmination day……
WEEK 1: (Updated 21/07/13)
Term 3 started with a rush! It was a great beginning and with everyone rejuvenated and excited to start their term, our first day and week was really pleasing. There was lots of enthusiasm and everyone to consolidate their understanding and take their learning and grades to another level.
Homework begins this week and some students are going up a level with their Maths homework. Please be mindful that some concepts may be still difficult for some students. If this is the case please write comments on their maths sheet so I can be aware a well as support your child’s needs.
- Book week costume: “Matilda” characters
- Chapel Service : 4RG – WEEK 2 Friday at 8.40am
WEEK 3: (UPDATED 28/O7/2013)
Our writing samples have taken a turn for the better and I’d to share with you how pleased I am with the efforts of everyone. I think back to term one and reflect on where we were then. There certainly has been a huge change in the way we attempt and plan our pieces of writing. Half a page was maximum and not many capitals or fullstops. Now it’s 2 pages and descriptive, interesting storylines that keep the reader interested and wanting more. Well done 4RG!
Thank you for your support for the students at our Chapel service last Friday. It is difficult to give everyone a main part but I think we managed to include everyone in some shape or form. Stage fright paid its part but I don’t think it showed too dramatically? Now we can get back to our normal duty of learning.
