The students now have access to Spelling City, a fun way to learn their spelling words. There are alot of different activities for students to choose from which will help them learn their spelling words for the week. Starting next term students will have tasks set for them which they will need to complete. Their username is their name followed by 3js and their password is spelling. December 4th - Last day of Term
Students are now changing their Readers themselves, they have until 8.25 each day to change their readers. Please continue to read with your children at home with an emphasis on comprehension. You may also find some movement up or down with previous levels based on the new testing format. Readers this year will focus more on developing reading skills rather than what level the children are on. All students would have recieved a "What good readers do" card in their home reader. We would love the children to work on developing these skills.
A special note of thanks to our parent helpers. We currently have around 10 regular helpers and are benefitting from their assistance. There is always room for more.
Takes place on Wednesday afternoon. Students will participate in 2 sports per term for 4 or 5 weeks per sport. The format for Sport in the lower Primary School will be on an option basis and there will be a number of sports from which to choose. Drink Bottle I have requested all students bring a water bottle each day to ensure we are hydrated, particularly during hot days. These are allowed to be kept on students desks and can be refilled with the classroom filtered water dispenser.
The Year 3 students will receive a homework booklet at the start of each term. Home work is to be handed in each Thursday and will be returned on Friday. By distributing the homework booklet back on a Friday, students will have an opportunity to complete the homework activities over the weekend if needed due to their commitment to after school activities. In the event that homework cannot be completed, a note from a parent will be sufficient.
It is expected that students read for a duration of 10-15 minutes per night. There is a section on the weekly homework grid which we ask parents to sign as their child completes their reading each night. Home readers will be changed on a needs basis and we will keep a record of this. When your child requires their reader to be changed, please place the reader in the students' plastic wallet and in the home reader container near the front door.
Happy Birthday to everyone celebrating their Birthday this month!
Jai and Kira
We hope you have a very special day!
