Homereaders
Students are now changing their Readers themselves. Please continue to read with your children at home with an emphasis on comprehension. You may also find some movement up or down with previous levels based on the new testing format. Readers this year will focus more on developing reading skills rather than what level the children are on. All students would have recieved a "What good readers do" card in their home reader. We would love the children to work on developing these skills.

PEP
PEP will begin this week. PEP will run on even weeks for the remainder of the term and continue next term.

Home readers.
We have changed the way class readers are issued in the 3JS classroom. The readers can be found displayed on the bookshelf inside the classroom. Students have until 8.25 each day to change their readers. Students are expected to complete at least 2 readers a week, depending on the size of each book.  This is still being checked each week.

Parent helpers
A special note of thanks to our parent helpers. We currently have around 10 regular helpers and are benefitting from their assistance. There is always room for more.

Sport
Takes place on Wednesday afternoon. Students will participate in 2 sports per term for 4 or 5 weeks per sport. The format for Sport in the lower Primary School will be on an option basis and there will be a number of sports from which to choose. Drink Bottle I have requested all students bring a water bottle each day to ensure we are hydrated, particularly during hot days. These are allowed to be kept on students desks and can be refilled with the classroom filtered water dispenser.

Homework
The Year 3 students will receive a homework grid each week with a variety of activities for their weekly homework. This grid will be placed into their Homework book each Friday and is to be returned the following Thursday to be marked. By distributing the homework grid on a Friday, students will have an opportunity to complete the homework activities over the weekend if needed due to their commitment to after school activities. In the event that homework cannot be completed, a note from a parent will be sufficient.

Readers
It is expected that students read for a duration of 10-15 minutes per night. There is a section on the weekly homework grid which we ask parents to sign as their child completes their reading each night. Home readers will be changed on a needs basis and we will keep a record of this. When your child requires their reader to be changed, please place the reader in the students' plastic wallet and in the home reader container near the front door.

Birthdays!
Happy Birthday to everyone celebrating their Birthday this month!

Will - 11th
Ava - 23rd

We hope you have a very special day!

Awards!
Each week one student will recieve an Award at Assembly.
This weeks Award winner is:  Juliette
