Welcome to St Andrew's
As Principal, I welcome you to St Andrew's Anglican College, an award winning Independent private school achieving excellence on the Sunshine Coast. With our current enrolment of over 1200 students, the College caters from Prep to Year 12. In order to achieve the high aspirations of our Mission Statement, "St Andrew's has a vision of excellence promoted in all aspects of the College life", the College has been fortunate to attract a high calibre of staff who seek each day to provide these unique educational opportunities for the children in their care.
Being the Principal of St Andrew’s Anglican College is such an amazing and rewarding job, because of the people! It’s a delight to welcome the students each morning, to interact with staff as we share ideas about the future of our College and collaborate with parents to ensure a consistent approach to all we undertake. As Principal, I have the exciting challenge to implement our Strategic Intent; to leverage our positive energy and supportive community to enable our students to move confidently into their futures.

FOUNDATION DAY - FRIDAY 19 JUNE
We shared a lovely last day of Term 2 as our Prep to Year 12 students came together for fun House activities. We then celebrated with the more formal part of the day at our Service, where Gianni Ribeiro, Class of 2009 was our guest speaker. We inducted our 2015/2016 Prefects and College Captains and congratulated staff completing their tenth year of service, and students completing their education at St Andrew's since Prep. The Service also featured beautiful performances by our Jazz Orchestra and accompanying students, Gabby Emery, Maegan Emerick and Abi Ellerton. The day finished with our famous Diamond Dash where we saw a tie between Rafter and Burkett this year for the overall title. Our thanks also to the mums who cooked a delicious bbq for us all and congratulations to all involved. We wish our community a safe and restful break.

ANZAC Service 2015
We shared a special service today to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ANZAC landing at Gallipoli. We welcomed the NZ Veteran's Band who along with our College Wind Ensemble and College Choir performed beautifully. Mr Steve Drake, Tewantin/Noosa RSL Sub Branch President spoke about the meaning of ANZAC and we were delighted to welcome back past student Toia Mangakahia to perform the NZ National Anthem.
It was a moving service which finished with each student and staff member laying a poppy around our flagpole.

Lest We Forget.
Since graduating from St Andrew’s Anglican College in 2010, Hamish certainly hasn’t let the grass grow under his feet. During his study at UQ in Biomedical Sciences, Hamish was awarded a scholarship to study at Oxford as part of his honours thesis, “Investigating Novel Calcium Signalling Pathways in the VEGF Response in the Endothelium”.
Hamish must have certainly made an impression as he has now been awarded a scholarship through the British Heart Foundation to complete his PhD in Cardiovascular Science at Oxford University, the first overseas student to be awarded this honour! The Scholarship runs for 4 years commencing this October. While mum, Ros is very proud of her son’s achievement and she will miss him, she looks forward to the excuse to visit the UK more often over the next few years. St Andrew’s Principal Chris Ivey said that “It is always fantastic to see graduates moving into their exciting futures and we look forward to hearing where Hamish’s PhD takes him”.
2015 Leadership Induction Service
We enjoyed a beautiful service as we inducted our 2015 College leaders. We are sure they will do themselves and the College proud in their positions. Congratulations to all involved.

2014 Year 12 OP Results released
Congratulations to our Class of 2014 who were recently notified of their OP results and as anticipated our students have achieved at an outstanding level.
The statistics are:
•Percentage of OP1-15: 96.4%. This is the fourth consecutive year this statistic has... been above 90%, which is an outstanding result (State average of 79.3%)
•Percentage of OP1-10: 78.2% - this is our highest result ever in this statistical range (State average of 49.8%)
•Percentage of OP1-5: 38.2% - this is an important statistic because it highlights the number of high achieving academic students within the cohort. This statistic is traditionally dominated by academic selective schools. (State average of 20.5%). This is our best ever and historically, we believe it places us in one of the top positions within the state, the confirmation of which will come when all schools publish their results.
•Percentage of OP1-2: 12.7% - state average of 6.3%
•Percentage of OP1s: 3.3% - State average of 2.7%
•In our 7th graduating cohort, 55 students received an OP
Principal Chris Ivey said that "As the parent of a Year 12 student here at St Andrew’s these are sensational results; however, what continues to be most important to me as Principal is that students have achieved their personal best at our College and we have enabled them to have a variety of choices as they move confidently into their futures, when it comes to the next stage of their learning journey.
I want to thank Mr Paul Sjogren and Mr Bowen for their outstanding leadership with our Year 12’s and all of our wonderful staff for the way in which they continue to promote a culture of personal best in whatever avenue our students pursue."
Please click here to read more about these results from our Principal Chris Ivey.
We look forward to seeing where life takes our Class of 2014 and will stay in touch as they become members of our Old Saints alumni association!
Happy Christmas to all in our Community.
Another school year is over!
Our thanks to our wonderful community for another fantastic year at St Andrew's. Again our students took part in the many opportunities available to them through out the year. Please stay safe and enjoy the break. We look forward to welcoming you all back in 2015!
Farewell to our Class of 2014
Last week we celebrated with and said goodbye to our Class of 2014. On Tuesday we recognised the achievements and endeavour of our Secondary students at our Presentation Evening, including the presentation to our Dux and College Captain, Isaak Jackson. On Thursday evening we then congratulated our Year 12 students with their families at the Valedictory Dinner. On Friday it was a moving service as our Prep students led the Year 12 graduates out of the Richard Gowty Centre for the last time, and the College community formed the traditional guard of honour as the students walked out of the College. Our very best wishes to our Class of 2014, you have grown into fine young adults and we look forward to seeing where life takes you. The week was full of many events including visits from authors Melaina Faranda and Pat Flynn who entertained and inspired students. We saw a closely contested Year 5 Readers Cup final and the week culminated in our wonderful Book Week Parade where students from Years Prep to 12, dressed up and celebrated. News from three recent Graduates
Congratulations to three graduates from our Class of 2013 who were recently announced as AVSP (Australian Vocational Student Prize) recipients. All three students nominated by the College were successful and Josie Harycki (Certificate III in Aged Care), Tarryn Brandes (Certificate III in Tourism) and Kelly Douglas (Certificate III in Tourism) have each received $2000 in prize money to assist them in their chosen careers. Run by the Department of Education, AVSP awards specifically recognise Year 12 students who have demonstrated exceptional skill and commitment while undertaking a VET in Schools program or School-Based traineeship as part of their senior secondary studies. The nomination process is detailed and requires reports/comments from Students, Employers and the student’s school. Well done girls. We look forward to hearing how your careers progress.
Hair to Spare
Two very courageous students gave up their hair for a good cause in the Leukemia Foundation Worlds Greatest Shave. Lucy Froud (Year 12 and College Captain) and Ariel Woodhouse (Year 11) have raised over $3000. Their Hair to Spare campaign was a great way to launch the 2014 Pay it Forward Program run yearly by our Prefects, where students demonstrate that giving to others is truely a rewarding experience. Congratulations Lucy and Ariel, we are all very proud of you. It is not too late to support the girls. If you would like to contribute and support Lucy and Ariel please click on their fundraising page here. Alternatively donations are being accepted at Main Administration.
Foundation Day 2014
What a wonderful day we shared last Friday our last day of Term 2 and Foundation Day. We know that St Andrew's is so much more than English, Maths and Science and this is demonstrated on days such as Foundation Day where we pause to take the time to connect with each other. The day commenced with students from across Prep to Year 12 participating in fun House activities together. We then moved to the formal part of the celebrations with our Service. We welcomed Abi Mawby, Class of 2009 as special guest, who spoke about her time at St Andrew's and how the connections she has made through school and at University have been so valuable. If you would like to read Abi's speech please click here. We congratulated our first group of students who are in 2014 completing their entire education at St Andrew's and we congratulated our staff completing their tenth year of service this year. This was all complimented by beautiful performances from our String Orchestra and Diamond Strong band. For more photos of our music students visit our Music facebook page here Foundation Day would not be complete without our famous Diamond Dash. For more photos visit our St Andrew's Sport facebook page here.
Poochies @ Peregian
Recently St Andrew's Anglican College had a visit from 'Minnie'. Minnie is a Smart Pup in training and she is currently being sponsored with the Condon family (Ben is a Year 9 student at the College). This is the 2nd Smart Pup sponsored by the Condon family and their first (Frankie) is about to be placed with a family in need.
The Smart Pups Organisation is fantastic and the College is proud of its ongoing support of this organisation through our annual Poochies @ Peregian event. This year's event was held on Sunday 15 June here at St Andrew’s Anglican College. It was a beautiful winters day and lots of poochies turned out to enjoy the activities. There were dog training sessions, competitions and dog related displays, lots of fun for all.
Our thanks to the many local businesses including K9 Dog Wash, Craig Holmes Photography, All About Pets, T.L.C. Pet Food, Peregian Springs Veterinary Surgery, Stephen Dawson Professional Dog Training, the very important Espresso Café on Wheels and of course the Smart Pups for supporting our Poochies @ Peregian.
