REVEREND CHRIS IVEY
As Principal, I welcome you to St. Andrew's Anglican College, Peregian Springs - an award winning, leading independent private school near Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. We are a unique community, one that focuses on the importance of relationships to enable each child to reach their personal best. I am continually humbled by the extraordinary achievements and actions of our community and it is for this reason that we bring you to our website, to share with you the 'reality' that is St. Andrew's. ...[read more]
A wonderful evening of celebration was shared last night at our Primary Presentation Evening. We were honoured to have Archbishop Phillip Aspinall join us, who spoke of the growth of the College since he first came to St Andrew's and turned the first sod of soil before construction began back in 2002. As students in Years 4 to 6 crossed the stage their smiles were beaming. Congratulations to all of our Primary students for their achievements this year and to our wonderful staff who work so hard to support the students. More pictures are available on our Facebook page here.

What a week
As we come to the end of a very busy week, I want to extend my thanks to the entire St Andrew’s community for the way in which you have embraced the variety of activities that have taken place. We ended last week with the sensational ‘Sounds of Celebration’ and then began the week with a moving Remembrance Day Service. As always, it was a pleasure to welcome the residents from the Country Club to join with us. On Tuesday evening we enjoyed our Secondary Presentation Evening and it was a fitting way to congratulate all our award recipients across so many fields. On Thursday we ran the Diamond Dash and then in the evening, the RGC was transformed as we celebrated the Year 12 Valedictory Dinner and my thanks to Mr Darcy Higgins (son of Julieanne) who presented a truly inspirational speech. And the week culminated this morning with our Year 12 Honouring Service, as our seniors said their final good byes! These pictures share a glimpse of what has been an extra-ordinary week and I want to commend all members of the community for joining in and celebrating with us. As our Year 12’s depart, I am reminded of the awesome privilege we have of being part of something quite amazing; impacting positively the lives of young people!
Sounds of Celebration was a wonderful way to celebrate the 2013 year in Music. We enjoyed beautiful performances from our ensembles and choirs and met Craig Atkinson ex member of the Ten Tenors who congratulated our Award Recipients. More photos are available to view on our facebook page here.
The 2013 Cultural Carnivale. There was an amazing variety of St Andrew's talent on display last Friday afternoon and evening as our Visual Art, Design Technology, Drama, Music and Hospitality students came together at our Arts Spectacular, the Cultural Carnivale.
The afternoon session was a lot of fun with hands on activities for the children including design your own outfit for Barbie which was very popular. It was lovely to see our Senior Students working on the creations with the younger ones. The evening was the Secondary students turn to shine with some wonderful music performances, displays from our Aspiring Artists and our Drama students and delicious canapés created and served by the Hospitality students. We were also very privileged to have Dr Debra Livingston join us as our guest judge and present some prizes. We also enjoyed the performances from the very groovy Steelpan Band along with the Ausfunk Dance Studio Cheerleaders and our Senior Dance girls.
A big thank you to all of the staff involved in putting together this incredible display of talent. Thank you also to our sponsors, the Peregian Springs Shopping Centre and Becker Helicopters , your contributions are very much appreciated and to Boutique Voyage and Thai-ism Peregian Springs who donated items for our raffle.
Lastly thank you to our students for sharing their creative skills and the parents and friends who came along to support the event.See more
Congratulations to Jono Freeman, Class of 2011, who has been picked by the Brisbane Lions in the AFL draft. This is a well deserved acheivement for Jono who we know works very hard at his sport. Brisbane have signed a truly great young man and on behalf of everyone at St Andrew's we wish him a fantastic AFL career.
Great news from three of our 2012 Graduates! Congratulations to Tex Byrne, Stephanie Sugden and Sarah Cossins, who are all recent recipients of the 2012 Australian Vocational Student Prize. The Australian Vocational Student Prize (AVSP) recognises students who have demonstrated outstanding skills while completing vocational training in Senior Secondary years. Camp on Campus
It was a perfect evening for the Camp on Campus last Saturday when an enthusiastic group of families and friends set up their tents on the Primary Oval for the night. There was a lot of fun to be had for all with the inaugural House Challenge, where teams battled it out in a series of activities. Congratulations to Williamson House for being the winning team. Our thanks to Nikki and Martin Price for all of their hard work organising this for us.
Term 2 finished last Friday with a somewhat amended program due to the inclement weather. Although we weren't able to go ahead with our House picnics and the Diamond Dash as planned, students and staff still joined together to share our celebratory cakes and a bbq at lunchtime. We started the day with a wonderful formal service where Tom Walter, a graduate from our first Year 12 group from 2008, joined us and shared what he continues to reflect about St Andrew's in his now working life. Tom told us that what he learnt from school was more than how to reconstruct a poem or the most difficult mathematical equation, but rather the way that teachers taught him passion and to reflect on himself with statements such as "Boredom is a choice", continuing to carry with him even today. A big thanks to Tom for joining us from Sydney where he now lives and works as a strategic planner in an advertising agency. Congratulations also to our newest Prefects who were inducted at the service. Jessica Ford, Tyler-Mae Fraser and Nick Sobey, took the oath of leadership and will join our other Year 12 Prefects in this important role along with Nichola Montague who was unfortunately unable to be at the service.
Congratulations also to our staff who this year in 2013 will complete ten years of service at St Andrew's. We celebrated as Mrs Frances Baker, Mr Peter Dick, Mr David Elley, Mr Andy O'Neill, Mrs Lyn Rees, Mrs Kelly Cashman, Mrs Julieanne Higgins and Mrs Wendy Porter, reached this milestone.
Thank you to all involved in the service and to the String Orchestra conducted by Mr Cade Bonar who performed superbly. Thanks also to our students who performed our College song, Diamond Strong.
The Diamond Dash will now be held early in Term 3 and families will be notified via email when this will occur shortly.
What a fantastic day we had on Saturday as our community came together at the Fair! The sun was out and the smiles were beaming as the College came alive with all the fun of the Fair. Our thanks to our Platinum sponsors, Coolum Beach Dental for their support and to all of the local businesses who supported the Fair. A big thank you also to our parents, students and staff who spent hours before the day preparing and who worked tirelessly on the day to ensure its success. What an amazing community we have at St Andrew's!
Thank you to the parents and friends who joined us for our Anzac service last Wednesday. In particular it is always lovely to welcome our friends from the Peregian Springs Country Club. We took time to honour and reflect on those who have served for our country. On Anzac Day we also attended the Coolum Dawn Service, the Peregian Springs Country Club Service and the Tewantin Service. Our thanks to the staff and students who attended these services.
We made it! 18 hours of walking in relay teams around the Sunshine Beach State School Oval for the Relay For Life. With moments for reflection, lots of laughs and fun along the way, we have raised over $13,600 for the Cancer Council to put into research to find a cure and support for those who are battling this terrible disease. Thanks Miss Mackie for making this happen and to all of our amazing staff, students and past students who participated. Thanks also to Jetts Peregian for joining with us to make this such a success.
The tables were turned today at lunchtime when the Secondary students had the chance to make staff run laps of the Richard Gowty Centre! All for a good cause of course, it was Teacher Gauntlet day to raise funds for the Cancer Council's Relay for Life. This Saturday night, 144 students and staff will in teams, relay around the Sunshine Beach State School Oval over an 18 hour period to raise awareness for this terrible disease. The fundraising is in full swing with students aiming to raise as much as possible. Today students donated money and nominated specific teachers and how many laps they ran! Miss Thomas was certainly popular having to complete over 60 laps!! Please support our bid to raise lots of money by clicking on the link here. This will take you to Miss Mackie's team page. Thanks to all students and staff for their participation and contributions today and to our community in advance for your support. Good luck to all of our relay teams this weekend.
Safe Travels to our Business Enrichment Trip and Bali Surf Camp students
There was lots of excitement last week as two groups of students set out overseas. The first to leave were students on the Business Enrichment trip to LA and New York and then the Bali Surf Camp students and staff left last Saturday for a two week intensive surf trip to Canggu! Have a fantastic time everyone. We look forward to hearing more about your adventures on your return. If you would like to keep up to date with their travels, visit our facebook page here.
The students learned a lot about coastal conservation in the process and were amazed with just how bad the erosion has been. Our thanks to Mr Brett Leckie from the Peregian Beach Surf Club for assisting our students. If you would like to join this cause, please contact Brett at the Surf Club.
Grandparents and Special Friends' Day
Please join us this Thursday at 8.45am in The Richard Gowty Centre as we welcome our Grandparents and Special Friends to a special Primary Assembly. The assembly will be followed by morning tea and then time with the students in their classrooms.
Recently our Secondary Students had their turn to raise money for a good cause. Shave for a Cure was quite a riot at assembly with staff and students losing their locks and leg hair! Congratulations to all involved for your enthusiasm. Early count shows that you have raised approximately $2000! Congratulations also to our Primary Students who also raised over $2000 for the Leukaemia Foundation. What a fantastic assembly for a worthwhile cause.
More Photos can be found here on our facebook page.
Charity Beach Fun Run
Our Charity Beach Fun Run has now been cancelled. Even though we had to cancel the event that didn't stop us joining together to continue to raise money for both Fire and Flood Relief. With the entries received before the event was cancelled and the funds from the amazing mega raffle, we are pleased to announce that we have raised a total of just over $5000. Thank you to all of the businesses who donated good to the raffle and to all of our supportive community. The raffle has been drawn and all 32 prize winners will be contacted by telephone during the first week of the holidays.
Great news regarding our Secondary Playing Field - To read a letter from the Principal about this project please click here.
The oval in the Secondary school becomes a close reality now that we've received Development Approval from the Sunshine Coast Regional Council. This multi-purpose field has been designed in close consultation with Council and reflects the sensitive nature of the adjoining wetlands and consideration of noise to our neighbours. The commencement of construction is scheduled for early March with completion by mid July. During this time we hope to gain some access to the newly developed ridges fields so that sporting activities are not affected. We are sure you will agree from the artists impressions, that this is going to be a fantastic new facility for our campus.
