REVEREND CHRIS IVEY
Welcome
As Principal, I welcome you to St. Andrew's Anglican College, Peregian Springs - an award winning, leading independent private school near Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. We are a unique community, one that focuses on the importance of relationships to enable each child to reach their personal best. I am continually humbled by the extraordinary achievements and actions of our community and it is for this reason that we bring you to our website, to share with you the 'reality' that is St. Andrew's. ...[read more]

Leadership Induction
Congratulations to all of our 2012 Leaders who were inducted in a lovely ceremony this week. We know that you will fulfill your roles admirably and be excellent ambassadors for the College.
We were very priviledge to have Brad Carron-Arthur as our guest speaker.  What an incredible young man, himself once a School Captain, Brad is now on a mission to run from Canberra to Cape York unassisted with only what he can carry in his backpack!  His personal story about mental health and his quest to raise awareness is truly inspirational.  You can follow Brad on his website  www.bradrunsnorth.com or on facebook and donate to this worthwhile cause.  Our students really enjoyed running with Brad on the beach this morning as he heads towards Gympie.
If you missed the ceremony you can view some great footage here.

It was oh so close!
The closest carnival in 10 years when Flinders just pipped our Secondary Swim Carnival team by just two and a half points after 100 races. Congratulations to our team on a superb day. Five individual Age champions and four Age group champions was fantastic! More information is available on our Swimming page. More images also available here

The 2012 Charity Beach Family Fun Run
The St Andrew's Anglican College spirit was on full display at an amazing afternoon supporting ovarian, breast and prostate cancer research. Over 1000 runners completed the 5km beach run to support our community raising over $6000 for charity. Thank you to all involved who contributed to a great event. It was a great way to kick start the year, supporting our community and getting active. Thank you for your support. All the photos are available here

Secondary Swim Carnival success

Congratulations to all swimmers for a wonderful Secondary Swim carnival. Rafter house retained the House 'duck' for incredible house spirit and Hocknull won the overall event. A huge thanks to all involved. The participation statistic from the day was huge and is reflective of what it means to be a St Andrew's student. It is credit to the wonderful house spirit and a willingness to get involved by all students that is so impressive. Congratulations to all new record holders as well selected team members. Australian Success
The College would like to congratulate six of our outstanding students who achieved phenomenal success over the holidays. The following stiudents have achieved National recognition - Louise and Kye Evans - Australian Sailing team, Tiana Soggard Andersen Australian Water Polo team, Brodie Modini Australian Athletics 1500m Athletics Champion, Remy Fairweather broke Hayley Lewis' 22 yr old swimming record. Brittany Cashman Australian Surf Lifesaving Flags Champion. I am sure the entire community extends their warmest congratulations to these students and their families on their incredible achievements. for more information go here

Outstanding Academic success
The College is amazingly proud of all our Year 12 students who have achieved success at so many different levels. In terms of statistics:
  • Five students achieved an OP 1, which is an outstanding result.  Congratulations to, Tom Shannon, Ellen Foster, Aprile Wenke, Sterling Tebbett and Georgia Harman. This equates to 10.6% of our cohort, one of the highest percentages in the state.
  • 21% received an OP of 1 or 2, far above the state average of just under 6%.
  • 34% received an OP of 1  - 5.
  • Our most remarkable statistic is that our OP 1 – 15 result, often used by the media to rank schools in terms of their Year 12 results, is 100%.  In our collective experiences of education in Queensland, 100% is extremely rare and usually only achieved in small schools with enrolments less than 10 in Year 12.

As these results come out, we also begin to hear of other offers made to our students.  Our boys College captain (Sam Johnson) was the recipient of an $83,000 scholarship to undertake Engineering through the University of NSW Co-op program.  Emily Wells was selected out of thousands of applicants to attend NIDA's Young Actors Studio Program in 2012.  Shaun Cornish has been invited to start as an apprentice chef at the Hyatt Coolum which is a very rare occurrence but an opportunity that Shaun will undertake with real passion and commitment.

These results are testament to the hard work of our Year 12 students, but also the support of their parents in encouraging them throughout their education.  It is certainly a wonderful result and the combined efforts of so many people is what enables students to achieve.

Remy creates History
Congratulations to St. Andrew's student Remy Fairweather who has created Australian swimming history when she broke one of the longest standing age-group AUSTRALIAN records being held by Hayley Lewis for 22 years !!! The record is now Remy's. The event was 14 years Girls 400m Freestyle in a time of 4:10.55, this also got her a bronze medal in the OPEN State 400m FINAL. She is now the fastest 13 yr old and 14 year old ever in Australian swimming history in this event. On behalf of everyone at St. Andrew's - congratulations Remy - We are very proud of you. Here is an audio file of her coach being interviewed on ABC radio about Remy
