The Performing Arts

The Performing Arts at St Andrew's Anglican College provides students the opportunity to engage with the following:

  • The Exploration of the subject of Drama in Year Seven and Eight; Elective Drama in Year Nine and Ten, and Senior Drama in Year Eleven and Twelve
  • Involvement on or offstage in the Secondary Play via audition/interview
  • Involvement on or offstage in the Secondary Musical via audition/interview

Students to explore their world through in-class theatrical creation, engagement and appreciation of historical contexts through the study of Drama, as well as production analysis; live theatre appreciation in both onstage and offstage opportunities. Drama provides a medium for exploration, social criticism, celebration and entertainment across both a curricular and co-curricular context. Through engagement with the subject, students engage in aesthetic learning experiences, developing skills and understanding that are transferable to a variety of artistic, social and real world related contexts while simultaneously establishing within students a spirit of enquiry amongst students.

At St Andrew’s Anglican College our theatrically engaged students (whether studying Drama as a subject or not) are welcomed to audition for co-curricular opportunities, including our major productions; The Secondary School Play and The Secondary School Musical running in alternate years. Live theatre performances offer a wealth of experience not least learning the skills of responsibility, collaboration, ownership of character, among many others inherent within our major productions. Involvement in the Secondary School Play provides opportunities to create memories to last a lifetime. The Secondary School Plays are currently performed by our College in The Studio – the current performance venue at St Andrew’s Anglican College.

Previous productions:

  • 2015 The Dining Room
