Prep - Year 2 Swim Carnival

Our Prep – Year 2 Swim Carnival is to be held on Wednesday 29th March at the Noosa Aquatic Centre from 9am – 11am. The Carnival is a fun, non-competitive event where all children in Prep – Year 2 are encouraged to take part in a wide range of fun events alongside children of the same ability. It should be a wonderful morning.

Program of events is here

  • Prep students swim from 9.15am – 9.45am
  • Year 1 and 2 students swim from 9.45am – 11.30am

Prep information:

This will be the Preps'  first experience of a school sports carnival! The aim is to ensure all Prep students enjoy the experience of being part of the broader school community. The emphasis is not on swimming ability, it is on imparting traditions and the St Andrew’s spirit of participation.

What to Wear: Children in Prep are NOT required to wear College swimming togs but may wear them if they have College swimmers already. Prep students are required to have have their togs on underneath their House sports uniform. Please ensure children have a rash shirt, towel, a drink, sunscreen and a sports hat.  It would be great if parents could apply sunscreen to their child/children prior to their arrival at school. It is important that children reapply sunscreen during the morning and drink lots of water.

The programme for Prep students will be as follows:

·       8.30am be in the classroom dressed in togs (school swimmers are not compulsory), house shirt, hat, towel and thongs (have runners, College socks, underwear, College shorts or skirt in a bag left at school for changing upon return to school)

·       8.45am Preps depart on buses

·       9.05am Arrive Noosa Aquatic Centre

·       9.15am Begin pool activities (noodles and kickboards at all times with teachers and Year 6 students in the water)

·       9.45am Finish activities and have morning tea (provided), watch Carnival

·       10.15am depart on buses for return to school

Morning Tea: Can you assist? We will be providing all children with a healthy morning snack on the day with no extra cost, which will include fruit, a range of muffins and a fruit drink but would love some parents to assist with the distribution.  If you can help, please offer your assistance to staff on the day. The kiosk at the pool will not be available to children wanting to purchase refreshments; therefore no money is required for the kiosk.

There will be a small entry fee for spectators to the pool. Parents are invited to attend the carnival.

Our Year 6 Leaders will also be in the pool helping their Prep buddies. Students will have their lunch as usual when they return to the College.

Year 1 and Year 2 information:

Travel: All Year 1 and 2 children will travel to and from the pool on the bus and depart school at 10am. Children will return to the College on the bus as soon as the carnival finishes at 11.30am. It is expected that all students  return to the College for the afternoon of Sport.
